Casa de la Esperanza House of Hope
Every 3rd Saturday - We meet in the church parking lot at 7:45am. Bring water, car registration for insurance (about $14 per car), snacks and lots of love. Join us as we caravan to Tijuana to visit this wonderful orphanage. The children would love to see you. They love having visitors. Join us on Saturday, July 19th. You will be blessed!
Saturday's trip was very warm!!! :) But the children really enjoyed the water and keeping cool. A very big thank you to our cooks Francis, Jim B. and Jim K. The
hamburgers (180) were great! Thanks also to Beth for serving and blessing me with her kindness.
We plan another swimming event in July (July 19th) and as soon as you know you will be able to go, please let us know if you have extra room in your car for a special friend of ours (return trip only).
All the children seem to be doing really well, but Anita who has lived there since she was 14 (she's now married with one child). She has just been diagnosed with Lupus and/or rheumatoid arthritis. Please pray for her - She is a wonderful lady (now 26 and working at the orphanage). She was told not to have more children.
Also , Amparo (26) is about to give birth to a little girl. Please pray that all goes well.
Unfortunately , we also learned that the director's son's wife abandoned him and their 5 year old son. Please pray for them. I can already see how the little son (Tonito) has changed. Pray that he will be able to trust
again.
Thank you for all your prayers. Pray for the kids. God is their father and we are blessed watching the love the children show us and each other. Friends of ours visited last weekend and were able to go to church the all the kids and said it was a wonderful service, so thanks be to God that the kids can know of God's love for them.
CROSSING THE BORDER INTO THE USA Anyone can apply for a Sentri pass which is like getting a security clearance--so you have to have a good record! It costs about $25 for the application and $100 for the pass. There is a Sentri lane at Otay Mesa and I think at the San Ysidro border. Applications are accepted on line only. Go to https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/. Goes stands for Global Online Enrollment System.

Please consider hosting or facilitating a small group over a 6 week period. You pick the day, time and even choose the type of group you would like (i.e. bible study, discussion, surfing, biking, knitting, etc.). Outlines of the weekend message can be
provided for your small group to discuss. We will match you with people who have interests similar to yours.

Relationship Coaching
Many people think that counseling is for dealing with problems when a relationship is in trouble. The truth is that counseling is great to use for prevention and learning to deal with problems before they happen. Relationship focused counseling can help strengthen a healthy relationship and/or help a relationship that is experiencing difficulties. This may be with married/dating couples, parents and children or teens, or a whole family. During psychotherapy couples or family members realize they can have the skills, which can be used to resolve differences and conflicts in more loving manner. Don’t waste time and energy doing what is not working. Seek help from one of our licensed therapists. Call the CARE Department at 493.2006.

The Bridge Recovery Ministry
Tuesdays at 7:00pm, in the Capo Café
Step Six - June - "We’re entirely ready to have God remove all defects of character."
"Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- which is your spiritual worship." Romans 12:1 Don't all of our lives become unmanageable at different times? Whether that looks like working too much, harboring anger, drinking too much, needing stronger emotional boundaries; step three is all about turning our life over to the care of God and allowing Him to manage our lives and restore our well-being. We know now that we are powerless over our destructive behavior and have learned the power of handing the steering wheel over to the Lord's loving hands. Come and find safety, hope and a family who will welcome and accept you just as you are. Come bridge yourself to God and other people in a safe and loving Christ centered atmosphere as we follow the 12 steps together! Childcare available.

FAMILIES IN RICH ENCOUNTERS
www.familiesinrichencounters.com

“Bringing Faith Home” The Most Enduring Gift of All 1 Corinthians 13 is known as the “love chapter.” You have probably read it or heard it before. I recently came across a seasonal interpretation of this chapter by an unknown
author. You’ll enjoy it. If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I’m just a decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another cook. If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to
charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing. If I trim the tree with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata but do not focus on my love for Christ, I have missed the point. Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t. Harry Robinson for Families in Rich Encounters, a family ministry of CBC.

Commandment (Rx) for Depression
#1: Stay Focused on God and #2: Accept His Help. Research shows that one in five persons will experience significant and persistent levels of depression. Depression often tells us “My problem is insurmountable! I’m all alone in this!” God gives us everything we need to rise above the various types of depression. Depression only gets worse when the choice is to isolate. Choosing to connect with and share honestly with God, our self and safe, wise people helps us gain perspective and find solution. We gain guidance by Hearing His Voice - through prayer and meditation, Bible study and Christian fellowship Depression often convinces us that “No one would understand” or “No one would be able to help/care” God made us to be interdependent with one another - others have been there and they can be encouraging, a source of strength and wise counsel. We heal by listening to God’s voice. We become willing to utilize His resources. God often wants to put us in the care of doctors, therapists, pastors, lay counselors, support groups, etc. Obedience to God’s will is imperative for healing to take place. “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” Ecc 4:9-11. And #3: Stay Conscious about and Clear of Addictive behaviors, Unhealthy Relationships and Socially Avoidant Behaviors. We first become mindful of the spiritual, physical and mental drains in our life. Once we recognize the “downers” in our life we can then limit or eliminate them and embrace things that are spiritually, physically and mentally enhancing. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full!” John 10:10. God bless you and keep you in His loving care!
