Casa de la Esperanza is an Orphanage located in Tijuana, Baja California. Casa is home to an average of 60 children and 10 workers.  This web site is meant to be an update for those of you who have visited the kids, cooked for them, played with them, prayed for them and cared for them either personally or through donations over the past nine years.arch

This site is also intended to inform those of you who have not been able to visit the kids personally.  Perhaps through prayer and the information contained here, you may be led by God's Spirit to participate in some way with this fantastic ministry.  Not only is your involvement changing the lives of the kids but it will surely prove to be life changing for those called to participate on a more personal level.

We normally spend the third Saturday of each month with the kids.  Here's a typical visit to Casa de la Esperanza...

Our day begins by meeting in the parking lot at Calvary Chapel of Capistrano Beach, California at 7:45 a.m.  The address is 25975 Domingo, Capistrano Beach, California 92624.  Once we are all together and hand out maps, we get on the road about 8:00 a.m.  We then meet again at the "Last U.S. Exit" before crossing the border,  where we buy car insurance and regroup.  Liability insurance for the day is $12. Then we caravan across the border (or at least we attempt it), and then on to the orphanage. which is about 15 minutes south of the border.

As we drive through the gates of Casa and begin to see the children's little hands waving, we know we're in for a very special day.

After saying our "hellos" and handing out hugs, we unload our cars, park, and then the day really begins.  Activities might include planned crafts, ball games, water balloon tosses, jump rope, going to the beach, or something totally spontaneous.0623_003

What is planned is the lunch we provide and cook for the children and staff members of Casa on each of our visits.  A normal lunch might consist of hamburgers or hot dogs, chips, fresh fruit, raisins, fruit drinks, and cookies for dessert.  After the children have gathered and many thank you's are said, we ask God's blessing on the food and the feast begins.  It's not unlike our family dinner tables, with one exception; there are about 60 kids and most want seconds - especially when we have OREO'S!

After the meal is finished, we clean, sweep, wash up, and store any unused food for another meal.  The rest of the day is spent with the kids.  The time passes quickly and before you know it, it's time to say "Adios" and head back home to Capo Beach Calvary.

Sometimes we stop in San Diego for dinner which gives us all a nice time together before the drive home.
